The piracy around ÖFB star David Alaba continues. The Bayern defense star shouldn’t have been completely honest.
“I only found out from the media,” Alaba said of Bayern’s withdrawal of the offer, reporting that he was “badly injured.” But now more details are coming to light, his club publicly “shoots” the defender and denies the Viennese’s statements.
According to Kicker, Alaba and his management knew the exact deadline until November 1 at 3:00 p.m. No one had contacted Bayern before the deadline, so Bayern president Herbert Hainer deleted the last offer on the table.
A contract until 2024 with an annual increase, which towards the end, including premiums, reached the 20 million mark, still very little for the Alaba side. The ÖFB star is currently cashing in around 15 million, and he definitely wants to rise to the top ranks of the Munich group with Robert Lewandowski (21 million) and Manuel Neuer (22 million).
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic even contacted Pini Zahavi a day before the deadline. The dry answer: the offer must be improved.
After Sunday’s training session, “Brazzo” informed Alaba in a 30-minute one-on-one conversation that the offer was no longer valid. According to Kicker, Alaba should have accepted it without much emotion. It was even more surprising that the ÖFB star stated that he had only found out about the matter through the media.
That’s probably why Salihamidzic reacted so pissed off before the Champions League game against Salzburg and practically closed the door to come to an agreement: “I don’t see how we should meet!”
Alaba also criticized the media that he should be traded for Leroy Sané. However, this idea came from Manchester City and not from Bayern, as Salihamidzic claimed. The variant was briefly discussed with Zahavi, but it was never really a problem. Here, too, those in Munich refute the statements of their defense chief.
Bayern will now try to sell Alaba in winter to collect a transfer fee, he can switch for free in summer 2021, a “worst case scenario” for Salihamidzic.
Munich should even have a successor for team ÖFB kicker on the roster. Although Salihamidzic says Bayern is “in command” at center-back even without Alaba, 20-year-old Perr Schuurs will move from Ajax Amsterdam to Säbener Strasse.
