There are 502 new cases in Austria, 258 of which concern Vienna. But there they are not worried.
The Interior Ministry reported 502 new corona infections in Austria on Wednesday. The number is now more than 500 for the second day in a row after 520 new infections were reported the day before. Tuesday and Wednesday, Vienna’s comparatively high number was decisive. The federal capital reported 258 new infections on Wednesday. While the 340 new infections were explained Tuesday with a processing backlog, a day later there is no explanation for the increase.
258 cases in one day are not exceptional, says the spokesman for the medical crisis team to the “press”, especially since the number of new infections over the weekend was very low. Sometimes there is a time change. “The seven-day average is more significant.” Currently, this is 155 new infections and therefore slightly higher than last week (127).
However, no large new groups would have formed. “The routes of contagion are the same, especially in the family area,” said the spokesman.

The corona cluster around the Jungschar camp of a parish in the city of Salzburg in Grossarl, which was unveiled last weekend, appears to be limited: for the second day in a row, on Wednesday there was no new infection that could be assigned to this group, the city of Salzburg reported on Wednesday afternoon. The number of infected remained unchanged at 16.
Since August 30, 22 youths around the age of 14 and nine supervisors had participated in the camp. After two days, a participant from Bavaria fell ill, and on Thursday it finally became clear that there was a Covid infection. The camp was immediately demolished. In the following days, the number of infected people increased rapidly. Seven people in this group who tested positive come from the city of Salzburg, four from Tennengau, three from Flachgau, one from Upper Austria and the index case from Bavaria.

At Steiermarkt, an officer from the Eggersdorf police station in the Graz-Umgebung district tested positive for Covid-19. The post was blocked for a few days and is now being sanitized. All uniformed men on duty are now being screened. Police inspection teams are not affected, as the Styrian State Police Department announced on Wednesday.
Statistics
So far there have been 30,583 sick people across the country, 747 people have died as a result of the corona virus and 25,764 have recovered. 197 people are currently undergoing hospital treatment for the virus, 36 of them in intensive care units.
