At the long-awaited press conference of Bundesliga league leader LASK, a day after violations of the crown measures were known, LASK President Sigmund Gruber had consequences. This puts his mandate on the league’s supervisory board dormant during Bundesliga proceedings. “I sent an email to Philip Thonhauser earlier this morning, where I said I would put the position of the supervisory board on hold for the time being,” said the LASK chief.
The upper Austrians see a possible relaxed punishment. “You have a good legal position,” said Gruber.
LASK Vice President Jürgen Werner admits that the revealed video shows the team’s training last Wednesday, two days before official permission. A total of four training sessions were conducted in which the distance rules were ignored.
Werner offered LASK President Sigmund Gruber his resignation, but the LASK chief declined. Werner and Ismael are “sacrosanct,” Gruber said. There would be no consequences for the head coach and vice president on his side. “I keep social media,” says Gruber, who apologizes to the competition, but does not want to receive negative comments from sponsors.

“Sanitize every stone”
Werner defends the steps the Linzers have taken. “We disinfect every stone,” said the LASK vice president. Players are said to have been tested every day for the first ten days. There should not be a single case of a positive crown. The coaching team is said to have approached him.
“We were on the wrong track,” says Werner, who apologizes for the club’s misconduct, also with the competition, who had been excited about the training. But he continues to demonstrate that the club “cannot be blamed for health problems.”
“I would like to apologize for my role as head coach, sincerely and honestly,” says LASK coach Valerien Ismael. The association had complied with all hygiene measures, they had a “feeling of security”. With all four workouts, the coaching team wanted to “spark a boost,” explains Ismael, who later sees it as a mistake.
The Bundesliga and the Linzer’s eleven opponents were leaked images that training should prove. The league leader then posted a broadcast in which irregularities were admitted.
