Rafting group capsized in Upper Austria: a 31-year-old boy fell over a waterfall.

After a 10-person rafting group capsized on Friday at Steyr in Hinterstoder (Kirchdorf an der Krems district), a 31-year-old Czech fell on the Stromboding waterfall. The man was only able to free himself from the water roller after a fight that lasted for several minutes and was injured. He was rescued by the emergency doctor’s helicopter with a rope and taken to the Kirchdorf Clinic.
As reported by the Upper Austrian police, the group of ten young Czechs and Slovaks was in Hinterstoder with five inflatable rafting canoes. The Steyr carried a lot of water after the rain. Shortly before the Stromboding waterfall, the canoeists wanted to moor to avoid the waterfall on the path along the river. Two of the boats capsized and the four occupants were ejected in their canoes. Three were saved on the rocky shore, the 31-year-old fell down the waterfall. A passerby walking along the Flößersteig next to the Steyr observed the accident and made an emergency call.
Canoeists also got into trouble
When trying to provide help, the other six canoeists also came in need, but it reached the shore independently. RE.The Hinterstoder Mountain Rescue Service, the canyoning group and the Alpine Police were on duty with 16 men. They were able to get everyone involved to safety. The rafting group went without a guide, but was well equipped with life jackets and helmets. A toilet bag containing the group’s personal belongings was aborted and could not be found.
