According to Health Minister Anschober, good tolerance has so far been found in corona vaccinates. The minister wants to give a weekly update on this.

So far, the response of people vaccinated against Covid in Austria in terms of tolerance is “very positive”. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) announced this by mail on New Year’s Eve. Honest information, education, and transparency are the most important bases for a vaccination decision. Therefore, Anschober wants to give an update every week on how people who have been vaccinated are doing.

More than 6,000 people already vaccinated

It will also provide information on the latest scientific findings and service offerings for the population. So far, more than 6,000 people in nursing homes and nursing homes or staff in Covid-19 wards have received the vaccine.

According to the minister, each vaccine can have minor side effects (redness, slight swelling, slight fever, slight pain at the injection site) that should not last a day or two. If that’s the case, “it is particularly important that the side effects of vaccines are reported and evaluated.” As a result, the respective benefit-risk ratio can be continuously and fully assessed even after approval.

In Austria, side effects for patients and relatives can voluntarily be reported directly to the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG). Doctors and pharmacists must register. “It is advisable to first speak with the doctor and then inform him directly if necessary,” Anschober said.
