Ironically, in an appointment with Finance Minister Gernot Blümel and the representative of the EU Commission in Austria, Sacher’s boss, Matthias Winkler, dropped the bomb on Tuesday and made public the dismissal of 140 employees. 105 employees in Vienna and 35 in Salzburg lose their jobs. The rest of the total 800 hotel group employees (Sacher and Bristol in Vienna and Salzburg, including cafeterias) will continue to work on reduced time.
