Innsbruck, Kitzbühel, Ötz – shortly after 8 am the first skiers were ready on the Patscherkofel. In the first hour and a half, the railway registered almost 300 accesses. Day 1 of this year’s ski season fell into the water in terms of weather. Obviously, this did not detract from the good humor.

On the contrary. Those who looked forward to fun on the slopes were grateful for the opportunity to finally get on the boards. Elevator operators, who decided to open up, appeared, a broadcast revealed, “satisfied,” “positively surprised,” and “excited about the discipline.”

Almost 2000 people started the season in Kitzbühel with rain and snow. A good start for Kitzbüheler Bergbahnen CEO Anton Bodner. “We have not yet been able to test our camera system in real operation, the practical test worked perfectly.” Bodner was completely satisfied and also praised the district administration and the police. They have also made short-term adaptations and feel they are in good hands. “The question is not how many measures are taken, but whether they will be taken. The personal responsibility and common sense of the people was really remarkable and very positive. “

Change of location: According to CEO Andreas Perberschlager, “a lot of people” came to the Oetz ski area. And here, too, the operator’s praise: “People are happy and disciplined” when queuing for the elevator. However, the biggest disappointment was also evident in the Ötztal: the lack of opportunities to offer food. Perberschlager places an “injustice” here because ski cabins can’t offer anything, but other businesses can.

Auch in anderen Regionen herrschte gestern durchaus gute Stimmung.

Back to the Patscherkofel. Adrian Egger, managing director of Deutsche Bahn, saw the start as very positive. “It certainly was a combination of the weather and the last few shopping opportunities that more people didn’t come to the area. On the other hand, it was pretty good at the beginning. ” According to Egger, about 80 percent of skiers brought an FFP2 mask from home. The others could buy their mask at the checkout for three euros. “Everything worked very well.”

Katharina and Anna, two young people from Innsbruck, did not let the rain stop them from taking the first turns on the local mountain. “We were very happy that winter finally started. Unfortunately the weather is not that great. But to shorten the waiting time for the Child Jesus, we went skiing. ” Security measures are “in order” for them. The two women feel that you cannot buy anything to eat or drink as “unfair”.
