Corona’s traffic light should begin operating on Friday. Not much is known about it yet, but many Austrians consider it a good idea.
Green, yellow, orange, red: these four colors will decide in the future what measures will be taken to combat the coronavirus. “Unique investigation” requested “today“501 Austrians (maximum fluctuation range ± 4.4 percent) what they think of this traffic light.
The results:
Two thirds for traffic lights
25 percent consider the crown traffic light to be very useful and 41 percent more useful. About a quarter of those surveyed responded with “less helpful” (15 percent) or “not helpful” (13 percent).
Green euphoria, blue skepticism
For 88 percent of green voters, the traffic light is a useful tool (see chart). ÖVP supporters see the idea of Health Minister Anschober (Greens) as equally positive. On the other hand, FPÖ fans are not enthusiastic at all. With them, the four-color scale meets a resistance of 61 percent.
Almost no gender difference
For both men (66 percent) and women (65 percent), the traffic light gets a two-thirds majority.
Older people are more confident
75 percent of those over 60 consider that the traffic light is very or rather useful. 21 percent are skeptical.
Those 30 to 60 years old are different: they have “only” 60 percent of fans of traffic lights. For those under 30, this figure is 68 percent.
High school graduates are traffic light freaks
While 61 percent of those surveyed without a Matura admit the traffic light, it is 79 percent for Matura. Opinion researcher Peter Hajek: “Basically the traffic light is well received. However, it will only show in practical tests how the population receives it.”
