7.05 Uhr: UNO: Afrika droht humanitäre Katastrophe

Than UN-Flüchtlingshilfswerk befürchtet angesichts der Corona-Pandemie eine humanitäre Katastrophe in etlichen afrikanischen Staaten. Seit dem ersten bestätigten Fall Ende Februar hätten sich in West- und Zentralafrika Tausende weitere Menschen angesteckt, sagte der Geschäftsführer der UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe Deutschland, Peter Ruhenstroth-Bauer, der “Saarbrücker Zeitung” (Samstag).

Dabei gehe es um eine von Gewalt, Hunger und Dürre geprägte Region, in der schon vor Ausbruch des Virus insgesamt rund zehn Millionen Menschen internationale Hilfe benötigt hätten.

“Europa muss schnell aktiv werden und beim Aufbau funktionierender staatlicher Strukturen helfen, bevor sich die Lage weiter zuspitzt”, sagte er. Zu nennen sei hier vor allem die Ausbreitung von Armut, Kriminalität, Terrorismus und Waffenhandel. “Wird das nicht unterbunden, droht eine humanitäre Katastrophe, deren Folgen auch Europa zu spüren bekommen wird.”

Nach fast sieben Wochen Corona-Shutdown dürfen am Samstag auch Einkaufszentren, Friseure sowie alle Geschäfte mit über 400 Quadratmetern Verkaufsfläche wieder aufmachen, darunter die großen Elektrohändler, Modeketten, Möbelhäuser und Sportartikelhändler. Eingekauft werden muss mit Maske und Abstand. Zur Wiedereröffnung winken großzügige Rabatte. Die Lager sind randvoll und müssen abverkauft werden.

Gewerkschaft: Entscheidung bis 6. Mai

In dem Brief werden die Direktoren der einzelnen Schulen ersucht, die Entscheidung ihrer Lehrer “hinsichtlich einer freiwilligen Öffnung und Durchführung des regulären Unterrichts bis Mittwoch, den 6. Mai 2020 12 Uhr, an die jeweilige Bildungsdirektion zu melden“. In beiden Wochen (18. bis 22. Mai bzw. 8. bis 12. Juni) sollen beide Schüler-“Schichtgruppen” an je zwei Tagen unterrichtet werden.

Erster Sonderzug möglicherweise am 9. Mai

Ein erster Sonderzug mit rumänischen Pflegekräften an Bord könnte möglicherweise am 9. Mai in Richtung Österreich rollen. Die Personentransportsparte der Rumänischen Eisenbahn (CFR Calatori) stehe in Verbindung mit der ÖBB, damit “ein Korridorzug für Saisonarbeiter, einschließlich aus dem Bereich der Sozialpflege, auf der Strecke Rumänien – Österreich eingerichtet wird”.

Mehr als 27.000 Tote in Großbritannien

The number of Corona-Toten in Großbritannien ist auf mehr als 27.000 gestiegen. 739 Menschen seien innerhalb der vergangenen 24 Stunden an den Folgen einer Coronavirus-Infektion gestorben, sagte der britische Gesundheitsminister Matt Hancock am Freitag in London. Damit gebe es nun insgesamt 27.510 Todesopfer im Land.

15 Infektionsfälle in Heim für Asylwerber

In “Haus Erdberg”, einer Betreuungsunterkunft für Asylwerber in Wien-Landstraße, sind 15 Personen positiv auf das Coronavirus getestet worden. Das teilte der medizinische Krisenstab der Stadt Wien am Freitagabend in einer Aussendung mit. Da das Gebäude für eine längerfristige Quarantäne nicht geeignet sei, würden die Betroffenen an anderen Orten untergebracht.

Diese Woche hätten einzelne Personen des “Haus Erdberg” Covid-19-Symptome gezeigt, wurde mitgeteilt. Daraufhin seien “rasch” alle Personen der Einrichtung getestet worden. Than Screening sei noch nicht abgeschlossen. Nach den ersten positiven Tests in mehreren Fällen habe die Gesundheitsbehörde eine Quarantäne verhängt.

1. Mai-Feiern weltweit von Corona-Pandemie eingeschränkt

Wegen des Coronavirus hat der diesjährige 1. Mai eine besondere Symbolik: Weltweit geht die Wirtschaft in den Keller, verlieren Millionen von Menschen ihre Arbeit – und gleichzeitig wirft die Pandemie ein Schlaglicht auf die meist schlecht bezahlten “Helden der Arbeit”, wie beispielsweise Pflegekräfte, Kassierer, Lieferboten und Müllarbeiter.
