A fire in a family home cost the life of a 67-year-old All Saints Day man. Yesterday, just before midnight, the Todos los Santos fire department was alerted to an operation. “The house is a few meters from the fire station. We were able to see the strong development of smoke even before we were there, ”reports Ernst Wimhofer, chief operations officer and commander of the All Saints Fire Department in Lebing.
When he arrived, the deceased’s roommate, who could be saved by jumping out the window, ran to him with the information that the 67-year-old man was still in the house. “Then I kicked the door, the smoke was very strong,” reports Wimhofer. The main priority was to find the missing person. The windows had to be broken to reduce the smoke. The 67-year-old resident was quickly found, but attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful. The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified.
