British Prime Minister Boris Johnson plans to lead the government again starting Monday after his Covid illness 19. The 55-year-old politician plans to return to his Downing Street office in London earlier in the week, a spokesman for his office, according to constant media reports.
Secretary of State Dominic Raab had led the government during his hospital stay and break at Checkers, the British government’s country house. Johnson awaits difficult tasks to deal with the Corona crisis. On Saturday night, according to Johns Hopkins University, nearly 150,000 people in Britain were infected with the new coronavirus, and more than 20,000 died as a result of an infection there.
Johnson had tested positive for a Sars-CoV-2 infection in late March and was hospitalized on April 5. Shortly thereafter, he was transferred to the St Thomas Hospital intensive care unit. There he received additional oxygen, but did not have to be ventilated, according to a secretary of state at the Ministry of Health.
Back at the government headquarters in Downing Street, Johnson will have a lot of work to do after the crown pandemic and new regulations. Britain could become the country with the highest number of fatalities in Europe due to the underfunded British health system NHS.
At the same time, the “blockade” is putting great pressure on the world’s fifth largest economy. Experts say it could slide into the worst recession in more than 300 years. And for the next Brexit, Johnson still has to negotiate solutions with the EU.
