Numerous applications continually crash, including Google’s Gmail email program. As tech portals reported Tuesday, a process called “Android System WebView” is causing the problems. Google confirmed the bug on Monday night (local time) and released an update on Tuesday to correct the bug.
On Twitter, Google advised affected users to search for “Android System WebView” in the Play Store and update the application. According to Google, the browser application “Chrome” will also be updated if an update is available.
Android applications can generally display web content through WebView. Since a failed WebView update, Google’s program running in the background has caused many applications to crash. Besides Gmail, GMX or Amazon and many banking applications are also affected.
