Austrian ski jumpers weren’t exactly successful in recent weeks. But just over a month after Daniel Huber’s second place at Nischnij Tagil, the ÖSV-Adler finally managed to get on the podium yesterday at Titisee-Neustadt. Stefan Kraft only had to give way to the Norwegians Halvor Egner Granerud and Daniel-Andre Tande on the German hill.
For the defending World Cup champion it was the first podium this season. The Salzburg man had previously been held back by a coronavirus infection and then back problems before the Four Hills Tournament.
“For me, this is a great result and confirmation of the hard work of the last few weeks. It can definitely continue like this now, the direction is right,” Kraft said.
The second best Austrian was Daniel Huber in 10th place, who improved significantly with a strong jump from 16th in the final. After a failed first round, Michael Hayböck landed in 14th place with a strong second jump of 134.5 meters.
Kamil Stoch fell
On the other hand, the winner of the tour, Kamil Stoch, had a bitter day after three wins in a row in the World Cup. The Pole, who also triumphed in the first competition at Titisee-Neustadt on Saturday, landed in the first jump with a strong tailwind at 123.5 meters. In the second round, Stoch rose to 131, but in the end that was only enough for 17th place.
The Norwegian Granerud, however, extended his advantage in the World Cup. With 948 points he is already 264 points ahead of second Markus Eisenbichler.
