The company transported 165 million packages, 30 percent more than in 2019. The number of packages has more than tripled since 2009.
According to an email from the Post, the increase is mainly due to online retail sales. On average, there were about 555,000 packages throughout Austria; in December, this number increased to more than 800,000. Mail peaked on December 7 with 1.3 million packages.
Swiss Post is investing in parcel logistics to support growth. This year 100 million euros flow. The expansion of the distribution center in Allhaming is also planned.
