Burgenland Governor Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) will undergo a planned follow-up examination of his vocal cords starting Monday at the otorhinolaryngology clinic at Leipzig University Hospital. The LH office confirmed the corresponding information from KURIER on Saturday.

Doskozil had to undergo three vocal cord operations in 20 months, the last time in March 2020 with a specialist in East Germany. The follow-up examination was scheduled for early December, but had to be postponed due to a Covid 19 infection by Doskozil. The 50-year-old politician is expected to stay at the university clinic for a few days. Meanwhile, LH Vice President Astrid Eisenkopf (SPÖ) is responsible for the single red government.

Three operations

The operation was performed in mid-March by Professor Andreas Dietz, director of the ENT clinic at Leipzig University Hospital and, according to the specialist at the time, “went very well.” Doskozil’s voice is still hoarse.

The country manager has been struggling with vocal cord problems since 2018. As a result, he had to undergo a first operation in July 2018 and a second in October 2019, both times in Vienna.

The specialist in Leipzig had been recommended to him by his Austrian doctors, Doskozil entrusted KURIER last spring.
