While the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants stagnates within a week across Austria, this so-called seven-day incidence in Salzburg has recently increased considerably. On New Year’s Day, there were 329 new infections per 100,000 residents in seven days. The value is twice the Austrian average (currently 158). Salzburg is also well ahead of Carinthia, which has the second worst value in Austria with an incidence of 200. On New Year’s Day, 351 new infections and one death were reported in Salzburg.
