In Vienna-Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, a balcony burned down on New Year’s Eve, a woman was rescued from the smoke-filled apartment by professional firefighters.

At the beginning of the year, there were a slightly higher number of operations compared to “normal” nights, the Vienna fire brigade reported. However, compared to the previous year, only half the time he had to go offline.

Emergency services were called to the Mareschgasse in Vienna-Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus at 0.30 am on New Year’s Day. Upon arrival, the balcony of the apartment building was already in full fire and the flames were prevented from spreading to the premises. While one group was fighting the fire, another broke the apartment door and removed the resident. After receiving emergency medical attention from the professional rescue service, she was taken to hospital. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.

Most of the other end-of-the-year operations by firefighters were small fires in the area of ​​hedges, bushes or garbage cans.
