Liverpool FC score points again against a laggard!

The ‘Reds’ arrive on matchday 16 of the Premier League at Newcastle United with a meager 0-0 and have to accept a draw for the second time in a row.

The reigning champions battle prominent Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who thwarts opportunity after opportunity. After 36 minutes of play, Mo Salah fails for the first time on the 30-year-old goalkeeper. The Egyptian is left alone in front of Darlow after a high pass from captain Jordan Henderson, but the goalkeeper directs the leather around the post (36º).

Shortly before the break, Roberto Firmino missed another great opportunity after he landed a massive header in the direction of the long corner, which Darlow shot again outside the area (45th). But the “Magpies” also have good chances, Callum Wilson misses twice (7th, 14th).

In the second part of the game it is Salah who fails again. The forward is sent on a trip by Firmino and he can hardly miss the goal (66th). Eleven minutes before the end of the game, the “Reds” are almost punished for not taking advantage of their opportunities, but Alisson can barely stop a header from Ciaran Clark (79th).

In the finals, Liverpool started in vain, as Darlow looked simply unbeatable that night and could thwart two other major opportunities (81, 88).

Ultimately, Jürgen Klopp’s team has to say goodbye to 2020 with one point, but still holds the championship lead with 33 points. Newcastle edged out Crystal Palace and moved up to 14th place (19 points).
