A man and a woman had to be freed from a gondola in a ski area in Vorarlberg on Monday after it got stuck.
A 24-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were rescued Monday night. The two people were driving the gondola of a cable car in Schnifis into the valley when it stopped about 270 meters above the valley station, presumably due to a defect.
Following the arrival of the mountain rescue and a police patrol, the mountain rescue managed to first throw a mountain rope over the two ropes of the cable car and then climb into the gondola. The trapped people could then be lowered from the gondola to the ground using rescue equipment.
No one was injured in the incident. 16 mountain rescuers and a federal police patrol with two officers were on duty.
