Hofer fights with “ZiB” star, no longer pays GIS – politics

When Martin Thür asked him nasty questions, FPÖ boss Norbert Hofer switched to the attack and complained about the ORF.

FPÖ boss Norbert Hofer was a guest on “ZiB2” with moderator Martin Thür on Monday evening. Initially, the interview was about Corona and how the FPÖ approached the subject. “We have seen how much things have changed around this virus,” Hofer said of his party’s criticism of the government. “The Chancellor said at the beginning of the year that 100,000 people could die from the virus.” He also recalled the statement that there would be no second lock, followed by a second and third lock.

There was a lack of scientific evidence for many government actions. “The worst thing was that the elderly and nursing homes were not protected. Instead, they underwent the massive tests and provided the elderly with defective masks,” said Hofer, who also spoke out against the passive vaccination requirement.

The FPÖ president also sees unanswered questions regarding vaccination: “It is not clear whether there is clinical or sterile immunity. It is a great benefit for high-risk patients. It is important to me that I cannot infect anyone.”

Hofer switches to attack

At the end of the conversation, Thür spoke about right-wing extremists. According to a decision of the FPÖ board of the Strache era, no one who is active in the radical right-wing group or its successor organizations can assume a role in the FPÖ. FPÖ Secretary General Michael Schnedlitz recently said the rift was over. And in Salzburg, a 17-year-old close to the Identitarians took on a role in Freedom Youth.

Thür didn’t get a real answer to his questions about how to reconcile this with the board’s resolution. Instead of going into the subject, Hofer preferred to talk about the terrorist attack in the city of Vienna in early November. He attacked the “mandatorily funded” ORF and Thür for their “not very smart” question. “I’m glad I canceled the GIS registration,” Hofer said. “If you like it, circle the identities, I don’t care.”
