At around 2 p.m., the man accompanied his great-grandchildren, ages four and ten, to sledding in the garden of their home in the Braunau district. In the slightly sloping meadow, the 81-year-old wanted to grab a sled that was sliding downward.
He slipped in the snow and fell over a 6 foot high garden wall on a paved ground. He suffered injuries and was transferred to Braunau hospital by rescue helicopter after first aid.
