Bolzano is a defensive monster – ICEHL

HCB Südtirol Alperia is back on the winning track: after the loss at Villach, Bozen’s weakened side again showed their good side in the first season’s duel with Salzburg.

The fact that the HCB is well positioned across the board this year pays off in situations like this: 6 Bolzano cracks fell at St.. Fundamental stone for victory: The defensive bulwark around Nick Plastino, Gleason Fournier, Dennis Robertson and goalkeeper Andy Bernard, who is already a constant in the HCB shirt after a week. Against Salzburg, Kalter celebrated the second shutout in the third game. The icing on the cake was Thomas Raffl’s penalty in the final third. Overall, with just 40 goals conceded after 21 games, the Foxes are in a league of their own in terms of defense.

Anyone who can deal with failures like Leland Irving, Justin Fazio, Ben Youds, Ivan Tauferer, Dan Catenacci or Mike Halmo (suspended) as easily as the HCB against Salzburg has no fear of anyone. After the slide against the basement boy, Villach, the Foxes were looking for amends from the start. The 4-day break after the luxurious December program made itself felt on Bozen’s fresh and shiny legs, the Christmas party, which many HCB stars enjoyed together, left no trace. On the contrary: from the beginning, Bozen pushed and showed who is the boss.

2 magic goals decide the game

Although the Talferstadt team dominated and had good chances (among other things Simon Pitschieler missed his first scorer point in the HCB jersey with a good shot to the wrist), there were no goals in the first period. The first goal was only postponed and came after half an hour worth seeing. Dennis Robertson filleted the Salzburg back team with a dream pass across the field to Dustin Gazley, who let a defender slide into the void and then selflessly played on Brett Findlay, who just had to hold the bat.

A real hit that made Bozen want more. And so the Salzburg defense, very under pressure, made a hair-raising mistake in the setup game just 5 minutes later, so the puck reached Anthony Bardaro via Stefano Giliati, who danced a bit with goalkeeper Eliasson and After several feints, he shot ice cream – 2-0.

Bernard is solid as a rock

While Salzburg lagged behind in the first two-thirds, the noble fans in the stands (Foxes’ injured and penalized cracks were the only spectators in the stands) were shown a different picture in the last section. The police brought it up and put pressure on goalkeeper Andy Bernard & Co. But the goalkeeper was rock solid in all cases and kept zero. The stumbling block was the sanction imposed on Raffl, which was the preliminary decision.

Bolzano will continue the away game against Innsbruck on Monday.
