During a police operation in Columbus, Ohio, an African American was killed for the second time in a few weeks. Mayor Andrew Ginther announced this on Twitter. The fact that the police officer involved did not turn on his body camera is unacceptable. The officer has been suspended from his duties until further notice and an investigation into the case has been launched.
According to the police, the officers were called by a local resident who saw a man sitting in a car for a long time and turning it on and off. When they arrived, the police found an open garage from which a man had emerged. He carried a cell phone in his left hand, his right hand was not visible. Then one of the policemen shot the man. The 47-year-old man later died in hospital from his injuries. No further details are known.
An African American was killed in a police raid in Columbus in early December. According to police, 23-year-old Casey Goodson was shot by an officer while searching for suspects. But Goodson was not the person he was looking for. His family’s lawyers brought serious charges against the police. They said Goodson was shot while opening the front door. He had a license for the weapon he was carrying. Goodson had no criminal record nor was he investigated.
