Combined athlete Vinzenz Geiger (Germany) made the double strike at the World Cup in Ramsau and defeated favorite Jarl Magnus Riiber of Norway in the sprint to the finish for the second time in 24 hours.

On Sunday, Olympic team champion Geiger raced from seventh place and triumphed two tenths of a second ahead of Riiber. Fabian Rießle (Germany / + 5.0 seconds) also took the podium in third place on his 30th birthday.

Geiger, who had started the 10km cross-country skiing 15 seconds behind leader Riiber, was tactically very smart. Only Riiber was able to follow his attack on the last climb, but like the day before, the Allgäu were stronger in the end. Samuel Costa from Val Gardena was 34 years old.

Riiber had won the first two races of the season before being disqualified to jump in the third at Kuusamo. Geiger is the only combination skier to have beaten Riiber, also 23, on the piste this season. Last year, the Norwegian won 14 of 17 races.
