The Czech cannot be defeated in the Super-G in Val d’Isere. The best of the disappointing Austrians is Tamara Tippler in 14th place.

Czech Ester Ledecka also won her first race in this discipline with the Super-G on Sunday at Val d’Isere. The best snowboarder and skier prevailed at the end of the alpine skiing women’s sprint start just ahead of the Swiss Corinne Suter (+0.03 seconds) and the Italian Federica Brignone (+0.35). The Austrians were heavily beaten, Tamara Tippler was the best in 14th place (+1.36) after 40 runners.

Ledecka sensationally won the Super-G at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February 2018 and has now also achieved the first victory in this discipline at the World Cup. In December 2019, he already won a downhill race at Lake Louise and now has two World Cup victories.

“I had a bad start to the day and not a good warm-up. The descent didn’t feel right. But apparently it wasn’t that bad. That’s a great result,” Ledecka said in an interview with ORF TV. For Suter it was third place on the podium in the third speed race in Val d’Isere.

Tippler noted the loss of substance; After his severe crown disease, he now has two workouts and three races on his legs in five days. “What would I do differently? I would drive differently, but that can’t be changed. I was extremely nervous today,” said the Styrian, who was unable to train for five weeks. Nina Ortlieb (20 at the moment) explained that she first had to analyze what she had done wrong. In the end, he took her hand because he had a stick, but Vorarlberg’s wife gave the go-ahead.
