A Belgian politician accidentally leaked the list of costs for the corona vaccine. This shows that the price difference between manufacturers is large.
Belgian Secretary of State for Consumer Protection Eva De Bleeker has posted a table on Twitter showing the prices of vaccines from six different manufacturers per dose. In fact, the EU has prohibited making the prices of vaccines public.
The tweet was deleted shortly after, but the Belgian newspaper “Het Laatste Nieuws” managed to take a screenshot in time.
-
The most expensive is the vaccine from the American company Moderna: $ 18 per dose.
-
The vaccine from the American company Johnson & Johnson costs $ 8.50.
-
The vaccine from the Mainz-based company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer costs 12 euros.
-
The vaccine from the company Tübingen Curevac costs 10 euros.
-
The vaccine from the French company Sanofi costs 7.56 euros.
-
The cheapest is the AstraZeneca vaccine: 1.78 euros per dose.
The EU has signed contracts with the three companies. The largest number of cans was ordered from Biontech and Pfizer: 300 million.
