The second downhill of the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup in Val d’Isere brought the same three women to the podium as on Friday in the first, but the top two swapped positions.

Sofia Goggia (Italy) won 0.24 seconds ahead of the Swiss Corinne Suter on Saturday, third was again the American Breezy Johnson (0.27). The best Austrian was Ramona Siebenhofer in sixth position (0.64).

In the morning, the Austrians had received a message from Nicole Schmidhofer, who had fallen so badly the day before and had torn the cruciate ligament and the collateral ligament in her left knee. The season is over for the Styrians.

“I had a better feeling”

“Yesterday I drove very cautiously. Today I took all the courage and tried to attack, I had better feelings,” Siebenhofer said. He entered the passage, where five runners had crashed the day before, a little hesitantly. “It is always difficult when a teammate is injured.”

For Goggia it was the eighth victory of the World Cup, the fifth in a descent.
