Once again, Wifo and IHS have presented slightly different GDP forecasts. Because in reality? That has a deeply Austrian undertone.
The event is held four times a year. The two economic research institutes, Wifo and IHS, present their economic forecasts together. Each time according to a meticulously prescribed dramaturgy, the highest level of secrecy: at the beginning of the week, both institutes complete their calculations; the day before the forecast they exchange ideas among themselves; On the day of the forecast, at nine o’clock, a taxi brings both forecasts to the ministries concerned; an hour or two later the new figures are presented to the media.
