Since the harsh shutdown began on November 17, the Interior Ministry has registered 5,968 reports under the Covid-19 Measures Law. There were also 2,284 corporal mandates under the Covid-19 Measures Law (2,211) and the Epidemic Law of 1950.

In this context, Interior Minister Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) called for more caution in the private sphere. “The number of reports has been declining for days. However, the number of new infections each day is not decreasing to the extent necessary. Therefore, a large part of new infections can be traced back to private life,” Nehammer said . A few days before Christmas, he warned that “carelessness should not reach the homes of people living in Austria.”

Nehammer at Christmas: “Less is often more”

“We have to be even more careful now, especially in our private lives, if we don’t want to find ourselves in a catastrophic situation after the Christmas holidays,” Nehammer said. “Not everything that is allowed in the private sphere really has to be done. Especially in these difficult times, less is more, to put it simply,” emphasized the Interior Minister.

Most of the corporate announcements and mandates were issued in Vienna, followed by Upper Austria. In all Austria they amount to 8,252. A list of announcements and mandates from the board:
