Exactly one week after the meeting in Vienna / Kagran, HCB Südtirol Alperia and Vienna Capitals met again on Saturday night on the ice wave. As 7 days ago, a duel took place on equal terms, with the Capitals once again having the best finish on their side.

Bolzano and Viena fought an intense exchange of blows, which was only decided on penalties. After 65 equal minutes, it was Ty Loney who secured the additional point in Vienna with his second penalty of the night and fixed the victory 3-2.

HCB coach Greg Ireland, who had to dispense with ailing Mike Halmo and instead called Simon Pitschieler, saw an uneventful first third. Both Bolzano and Vienna acted from an orderly defensive position, so opportunities remained slim. After just over 7 minutes, the guests seized one of the few opportunities to take the lead: When Pitschieler was sitting in the cold box, Nissner completed a remarkable puck relay over Wukovits and Campbell using a timer to make it 1-0. .

In between, the physically ever-present HCB took command and quickly rewarded themselves with the draw: after winning the puck at the Forecheck, Brett Findlay served forward Matteo Pietroniro, who gave Vienna goalkeeper Pickard a shot from distance. For the defender it was the first blow with the HCB shirt in the second game. Before the second tea break, Angelo Miceli directed most of Robertson’s titles toward goal, which was a game changer.

As happened a week ago, Bolzano was mostly confident on defense and defended intelligently and disciplined for long periods. Because the White-Reds acted too carelessly in their own attacks, the Capitals always stayed in the game. Almost 9 minutes before the end, the guests managed to equalize: Ty Loney took a step after a bully won and hit the puck on the Kreuzeck to make it 2-2. Until the end of regular playing time and also in overtime, nothing changed in the result: thanks to Matchwinner Loney, Vienna secured an additional point in the penalty shoot-out.
