The small Viennese derby between the Young Violets and Rapid II in the 2nd division did not produce a winner. The two rivals were separated with a 1-1 draw. Both goals came from penalties: in the 14th minute, El Moukhantir struck the center with confidence, before Oliver Strunz hit from the point in the 25th minute.
Referee Grobelnik points to the point twice
The young violets started much better in this little Viennese derby. Can Keles checked on Rapid goalkeeper Niklas Hedl, who recently extended his contract to early 2023 (fourth). Soon after, the Hütteldorfer had to change for the first time: Paul Gobara could not continue due to an injury. Patrick Obermüller came into play as his replacement.
Patrick Obermüller was only on the pitch for a few moments when he caused a penalty after hitting El Moukhantir on the heel. The free kick took a step and became safely in the center of the goal – 1-0 (14th). Ten minutes later there was also a penalty for Rapid: Christian Schoissengeyr jumped the ball from a corner kick. Referee Grobelnik immediately decided on a penalty, which Oliver Strunz shot safely into the net – 1: 1 (25th).
Great scoring chances were rare in the derby. It wasn’t until the 38th minute that the young violets found a double chance. At first Braunöder fired off the line from a very short distance before a deflected long-distance shot from Can Keles hit the bottom edge of the crossbar. In the end, he went to the box office with a 1-1 draw.
Hardly any chance to score in the second half
In Rapid II, Elias Felber replaced Dejan Petrovic at halftime. The game was a bit messy even after the break. There were no reporting possibilities here or there. In the 56th minute Schoissengeyr came up to head the ball, but the attempt ended up in the hands of Niklas Hedl (56th). He got really dangerous for the first time at the second break after just over an hour: Zimmermann reached the end after a cross to the far post from an acute angle, but shot just over the top (63.).
Moukhantir tried in the 72nd minute with a blow to the long corner, but his shot got past him quite clearly. The little Viennese derby left much to be desired in terms of intensity and speed. The most conspicuous Austrian El Moukhantir tried again from distance in the 86th minute and missed the right post. There was no final offense from either side, so this little Viennese derby ended in a 1-1 draw. The two combat teams split two weeks ago with the same result.
