LINZ. The exhibition should have been running a long time ago.Corona delayed the start. But now you can visit the new Van Gogh exhibition at the Linz cigar factory. Not only are the images of the art genius impressive, but also its implementation in the interactive show with an immersive area as the main highlight.
“You know you’ve put on a wonderful exhibition for people, and then you can’t open the door for so long, no one can imagine how it bothers you! It’s even more wonderful that we can finally open up and people can come and be amazed, and they will! I promise! ”- said the organizer of the exhibition Oliver Forster (Cofo Entertainment) at the small but beautiful opening on December 11th. It shows once again how important culture is in our society, which is exactly why it is proud that Cofo Entertainment can always make a contribution to cultural diversity in Linz, said Forster.
Guests from politics, business and society were excited. In compliance with Covid regulations, they immersed themselves in the world of Van Gogh, explored his brushstrokes, admired the show in the immersive zone with fascination and also virtually immersed themselves in the gardens of Arles.

Last exhibition in Tobaccoland
The current exhibition will be the last in this place, after the end of the exhibition on February 14, the demolition work of the unlisted area of the tobacco factory will begin new big project “Quadrill”. Not only Forster, but also Mayor Klaus Luger were a bit melancholy at the opening: the exhibition is worthy in this context, like the last one before the start of construction. “I am grateful, pleased and a little sad. Grateful that the organizers decided to hold this event despite Covid restrictions. Delighted because this Van Gogh exhibition is unique and innovative. And a little sad because this will be the last exhibition in the former Tobaccoland, ”Luger said. He is particularly pleased that such an exhibition can be seen in Linz and not in another larger city, for the first time in Austria, after Paris in Brussels.
Sandra Bodner, head of marketing and communications for title sponsor Bodner Gruppe, is also happy with the opening: “We have waited and waited so long, and we can finally show the exhibition to the public! This challenging year 2020 ends with great news; I hope that many interested people will come to us. ”
“What is happening here is sensational, the exhibition on the one hand, in such gloomy times on the other, look around you. What Vincent Van Gogh sometimes only experienced in his head, we now experience socially. Windings, dark times, light times, pigment storms, wild brushstrokes, silence – all this is currently a symbol. Take this exhibition by storm, but in order, the exhibition deserves it, but so do you ”, invites the director of the tobacco factory Chris Müller.
A whole new way to experience art
The exhibition is based on a completely new concept of how art can be brought closer to people. The large immersion area will especially inspire visitors. With the help of elaborate light installations and large projections, the visitor can immerse themselves in Van Gogh’s work, and the prints are perfectly coordinated with engaging music and sound. A room with walls eight meters high, 30 meters long and 15 meters wide is used.
In addition, there is also a virtual reality area, with virtual reality glasses the visitor can walk through the gardens of the city of Arles, those places where the genius of art was inspired by his works.
The exhibition displays more than 500 works by Van Gogh and also explains the life of the artist, who was born in 1853. Interactive areas, such as places to take pictures, await visitors, where you can be evoked in paintings or even become an artist. .
Time slot ticket
A time slot must be reserved to optimally guide the flow of visitors in the 1,800 square meters of exhibition space and thus comply with the applicable hygiene and distance regulations. With the time slot ticket, access to the exhibition is possible within the reserved time slot, the duration of the stay is unlimited.
If you want to be flexible or give away tickets without a time limit, so-called flexible / gift tickets are the right alternative. They can be used to access the exhibition at any time, but due to the crown there are only a limited number of them available.
