VSV have suffered the third consecutive loss in the ICE ice hockey league without Rob Daum, who has returned to the team. In 2: 5 against Fehervar, third in the table, NHL loan holder Michael Raffl was not there Thursday. Their home appearance is coming to an end after four games because the league in North America is aiming for a season to start in mid-January.
Additionally, Marco Pewal took up the EC GRAND Immo VSV again, as new head coach Rob Daum arrived at Villach directly from Canada in the third quarter. The locals started the game with a swing, but in the first power play the Hungarians took the lead through Daniel Szabo (6th).
With goals from Chris Collins (17th) and Sahir Gill (26th), the Carinthians even changed the game in the meantime. But Csanad Erdely made up for the balance in the middle section. Michael Caruso put guests back in the lead shortly after the restart. Then the Hungarian special teams made the final decision: Tamas Sarpatki scored outnumbered and a power play goal from Istvan Bartalis meant the final score 6: 3.
Fehervar earned the second guest appearance on VSV this season. With the second consecutive away win, head coach Antti Karhula’s team improved to third place. Villach, however, conceded the third loss at home in three days and is still penultimate.
