To alleviate some frustration in homeschooling, “flying learning cafes” are now opening in Vienna. Three coffee shops will join in starting Thursday.
It is well known that the Viennese café was ideal as a source of inspiration for world-famous texts, sketches and compositions. As a place of choice for one or another truancy, it is not new either. As a kind of emerging educational institution, as you now imagine an unusual, but definitely alliance: the Deputy Mayor of Vienna, Christoph Wiederkehr (Neos), the Vienna Directorate of Education, the Viennese coffee maker and the owner of the Irmgard Querfeld cafe in view of the distance learning weeks. for high school students starting Thursday in “flying learning cafes”. Schoolchildren and students should now have the opportunity to study outside their own four walls for at least a few hours a day.
They want to see learning cafes as an alternative for all those “who say I can’t take my education home with me,” Wiederkehr explained at a press conference Wednesday. Initially, three cafeterias of the Querfeld family participate in the campaign and make their facilities available: the Café Museum in Operngasse, the Café Frauenhuber in Himmelpfortgasse and The Legends in Landstraßer Hauptstraße.
