In AUA there are again changes on the board. A few months after the departure of CFO Wolfgang Jani, his successor as financier, Andreas Otto, will also leave the airline. Otto had only been CFO since September, but years before he had been Commercial Director (CCO). Finance is now run by CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech himself. A former Swiss manager, Michael Trestl, a native of Austria, will join AUA as the new CCO in January.

Andreas Otto, current Commercial Director and CFO, decided to leave the company at his own request on December 31, 2020 to pursue new challenges outside the Lufthansa Group in the future, the AUA announced Wednesday afternoon. Otto held executive positions at Lufthansa Group for more than 20 years. For the past six years he was a member of the AUA board of directors. Since spring 2020, Otto has played a leading role in crisis management and the design of the financing and aid package for the red-white-red airline, the airline wrote.

Michael Trestl is new to the AUA board. He will assume the position of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) on January 1, 2021. The Austrian Airlines Supervisory Board has yet to approve this proposal from the Lufthansa Executive Board. Trestl is currently Head of Network Management at AUA’s sister airline, Swiss. Since the start of the corona pandemic, he has also been managing the restart of Lufthansa airlines’ business areas.

Ritter also leaves the company

Jens Ritter, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AUA, will also be leaving Lufthansa’s Austrian subsidiary at the end of March 2021. He will be the new COO and member of the Eurowings management team in Germany. Ritter was part of AUA’s management for five years, first as a Responsible Manager and since early 2020 as COO, where he served as the main crisis manager for the red-white-red airline during the corona pandemic. As of April 1, 2021, Ritter will be replaced by Francesco Sciortino. He is currently Managing Director and Responsible Manager of Germanwings.

The board’s “Finance” department will not be covered and will be taken over by CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech as of January 1. The Austrian Airlines Executive Board will consist of Alexis von Hoensbroech as CEO and CFO, Michael Trestl as CCO and Francesco Sciortino as COO. (apa)
