If Joe Biden does move into the White House, he will have to deal with a rising corona wave across the country. More recently, experts warned that the current increase could peak in January. On the 20th of that month, Biden was sworn in as the new president. Melania Trump’s current message, reported by The British Guardian, among others, seems a bit strange.
“I hope this private room will serve as a place for future presidential families to relax and gather together,” the current First Lady wrote in an official statement. What is meant is a new tennis pavilion in the southern section of the White House, the completion of which Trump has celebrated.
In his message, he also thanked “the talented artisans” and “the generous supporters of the White House.” An attached photo shows the neat building with colonnades and cozy lighting. Costs are unknown, but construction was financed by private donations.
The criticism comes less from the building itself than from the moment of the good news. So David Corn, bureau chief of the liberal left-wing magazine “Mother Jones,” responded with a simple number: 282,345. This is the number of people who had died from crown disease in the US at the time of Trump’s post.
Molly Jong-Fast of “Daily Beast” also criticized Melania Trump’s action. She wrote on Twitter. “Well, ICU patients will feel much better knowing that the tennis hall is ready.”
The Trumps don’t have much time to use the new building on their own. With Biden’s inauguration at the latest, they have to vacate the White House. The CNN station is even citing unidentified sources in the center of power, according to which the couple could not return to the White House from an upcoming vacation in Florida. So far, the trip to the Mar-a-Lago property is supposed to end after the New Year.
