Many mountain roads were only passable with snow chains or were blocked, including the Plöckenpass or access to the Lesachtal. It rained like torrential rain in the Klagenfurt basin.
The road over the Plöckenpass and towards Lesachtal was closed from Kötschach-Mauthen due to the danger of avalanches. There was heavy snowfall, especially in Upper Gail Valley and Lesach Valley. Sometimes the depth of the snow increased to more than a meter.
