Rapid got off to a dream start and proved incredibly efficient in the first half as well. In the second minute, Kelvin Arase dusted off Ercan Kara’s shot, which goalkeeper Rene Swete was only able to stop briefly, to make it 1-0. In the 35th minute, Kara completed the margin to make it 2-0.
Hartberg had to play the second half with ten men after Bakary Nimaga’s yellow-red (44th), but made the game exciting again thanks to a controversial goal from Thomas Rotter (66th).
