No exceptions for New Year’s Eve: Söder tightened the crown measures …

The Bavarian Prime Minister is in favor of consistent rules to avoid “a permanent intermittent”. The rules are only relaxed at Christmas.

While Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) is warning the Austrian population to continue to adhere to applicable Corona regulations, the neighboring German state is tightening its measures. Prime Minister Markus South (CSU) wants to enforce stricter crown protection measures in the Free State due to the persistently high number of infections.

As of December 9, Bavaria will declare disaster again. As in Baden-Württemberg, in Bavaria a night curfew has been decided for all cities and districts with an incidence of more than 200 new corona infections in seven days per 100,000 inhabitants. In the fight against the corona pandemic, Bavaria will also ban outdoor alcohol consumption as of Wednesday. The trade remains open as before.

New Years Eve is no exception

Söder sent a clear message to everyone who wanted to celebrate New Year’s Eve in a slightly more exuberant way or on a slightly larger scale: contact restrictions will only be relaxed from December 23 to 26, but not during the change of year.

The new rules will initially apply until January 5. Starting in the eighth grade, there will be alternate lessons, meaning a combination of classroom and home lessons.

The tightening is also aimed at small border traffic with Austria. In the future, the quarantine obligation will also apply to hikers traveling to Bavaria for shopping. Family visits are excluded.

“Now we need a coherent approach. We cannot accept the high death toll in Germany,” said the head of the CSU of “Bild am Sonntag”. “It is better to act until Christmas than a permanent stoppage for the population.”

South He had already made it clear in recent days that he considered a harder course necessary due to the increasing number of new infections.
