Massive testing: only a few teachers so far positive; Tirol is considering postponing

Before 135,000 students return to Lower Austrian schools on Monday, the staff of Lower Austrian schools and kindergartens have been screened since yesterday.

On Saturday, 19,335 people across the state were tested, 36 of whom tested positive for antigen. That’s just 0.19 percent positive tests.

These results must now be confirmed by a PCR test, as reported by the military. The remainder of the state’s approximately 36,000 educational staff can be tested at one of 29 test stations until 7:00 pm Sunday night.

Tyrol critic: “Differences can hardly be borne”

The harsh criticism about the tests comes from the Tyrol. In Innsbruck and Kufstein, the influx of the corona test left much to be desired. “The quantity is not what we expected, but the quality is just right,” said a spokeswoman for the city of Innsbruck. Kufstein Mayor Martin Krumschnabel has an explanation for the low turnout. “The parties in the federal government should finally stop claiming otherwise, the difference is almost unbearable,” Krumschnabel said. Some parties would even ask citizens not to get tested. You would like a “united demeanor.”

37 infections in Upper Austria

In Upper Austria, 37 infections with the corona virus were discovered on Saturday, the first day of mass testing. 13,898 people were tested, of whom 0.27 percent tested positive.
