The capitals of Vienna have halted the triumphant advance of HCB Südtirol and have taken the lead in the ICE ice hockey league. Thanks to a good finish with two goals in the final minutes, the Viennese won Saturday’s big game against former leader HCB Südtirol 3-2 and are now in first place with three points ahead of the South Tyrolese.

Bolzano had traveled to Kagran confident of seven wins in a row, and for a long time it seemed like a continuation of the series. In an exciting game, Benjamin Nissner gave Vienna the lead seven seconds after a power play began (22nd), but the guests quickly responded with a double strike from Brett Findlay (26th, 30th).

In the final third, the South Tyrolese had a chance to make the preliminary decision before the game turned upside down and Dave Cameron’s team achieved their fifth straight victory. Taylor Vause tied (55th), the league’s top scorer, Colin Campbell, even secured three points for the Caps with his twelfth goal of the season.

The Dornbirn Bulldogs celebrated a 4-1 away win against Bratislava Capitals, in the second leg on Sunday they have home advantage.
