The one scheduled for this Saturday first sprint of the season the alpine ski ladies it has been canceled following a joint decision of the jury and the organizer. The first Super-G in St. Moritz cannot be held due to snowfall and high winds. Another Super-G is on Sunday’s program at the Engadine ski resort. Saturday’s cancellation was not a surprise due to the weather report.
In total, up to 50 centimeters of fresh snow fell on the Engadine, an amount that the piste controls could no longer bear. The Corviglia had previously been presented to World Cup riders in a perfectly groomed condition.
It is still very uncertain if the race scheduled for Sunday can take place, because on Saturday afternoon the snowfall should be stronger again and another half meter of fresh snow is expected during the night. So it is quite possible that the ladies have to leave the luxurious ski resort without having achieved anything.
