Shiffrin also skips the first weekend of speed
Ski-Star Mikaela Shiffrin also skips the first speed station of the new season of the World Cup. The five-time world champion will not be at the start of the two Super Gs on Saturday and Sunday in St. Moritz. This was confirmed by the US Ski Association at the request of the APA. For the “foreseeable future”, the 25-year-old will focus on the technical disciplines of giant slalom and slalom. He should return to the World Cup in the Courchevel double giant slalom (12 and 13 December).
Shiffrin’s break from the competition isn’t entirely surprising. According to the association, he has not accumulated kilometers of speed since January. This is also due to travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, which made speed training “non-existent” for Americans.
