Following the sensational win against Toulouse, the Viennese secured the next European League point at 33:33 against Ademar León.

The Fivers Margareten handball players scored their third point in Group A of the European League on Tuesday. The Viennese drew against Ademar León at home 33:33 (19:20) and thus improved one place to fourth in the table of six. Two weeks ago the Fivers achieved their first success in this European Cup with a 37:32 at home against Toulouse, last week they were unable to compete against Metalurg Skopje due to the crown.

The Fivers didn’t get off to a good start with a 4-0 draw, but they made their way and stayed in contact with fifth in the Spanish league for the rest of the season, especially after the break. A few minutes before the end, the hosts, who had started without captain Markus Kolar, were ahead at 33:32, but after losing the ball in the match without a goalkeeper they had to accept the draw.

“We had the victory in our hands, that hurts a bit,” said Lukas Hutecek, Fivers’ top scorer with seven goals. “But we showed what we can do. We played a good game for 60 minutes.” Coach Peter Eckl was not disappointed by the lost victory. “That’s a point won. We had the opponent before the loss. I feel great satisfaction and I’m proud of the team.” Next Tuesday is the “second leg”, the guest of the Fivers at Ademar León.
