WAC missed the third consecutive victory in the Bundesliga. Wolfsberger put SV Ried ahead on Sunday after a well-deserved lead on a goal from Dejan Joveljic (54th) until the 85th minute, before Marco Grüll scored the final 1-1 with a free kick. Recently ill coach Gerald Baumgartner, who was not yet fully fit on the sidelines, was also pleased with the newcomer.

Like WAC, Rieder, who now has ten points, got an outnumbered point after Michael Lercher saw yellow-red in the 48th minute. This time they were satisfied with leaving the Lavanttal-Arena after being left out of the ÖFB- Cup on penalties. WAC remains out of the top six and had to contend with the draw four days before the Europa League appearance at Russian club CSKA Moscow.

Fast paced game at first

The WAC efforts, which were convened in two stages these days, could not be seen at the moment. Ferdinand Feldhofer had switched teams by five positions, with central defender Dominik Baumgartner (muscular problems) missing a player. Manuel Kuttin returned to the goal. Rieder, who ran in the same formation as in 4: 3 against Rapid, tried to attack early and interrupt the home team’s preparation. But they knew how to please. Joveljic in particular was unstoppable.

The loan from Eintracht Frankfurt almost slipped away within minutes after an ideal pass from Michael Liendl, but Thomas Reifeltshammer still got his leg in the way. Joveljic then fired past the Kreuzeck and set up the best scoring opportunity in the first half of the game in the 15th minute. Liendl missed twice as Riedern took a shot and goalkeeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger saved Jonathan Scherzer. There wasn’t much to see offensively from the Innviertel team. Although he quickly approached the penalty area, there was no penetration.

Lercher was shown a yellow card after a mistake shortly before the break. Two minutes after the restart, the left-back marched off the field. Referee Harald Lechner awarded him a yellow-red for his overly impetuous engagement against Mario Pavelic. Sahin-Radlinger saved again against Joveljic before the 21-year-old Serb finally wrote to him. After a long pass from Liendl, he caught the ball with his chest and fired.

WAC didn’t make the preliminary decision, Ried took advantage of a misstep

The crossbar saved Ried from the second goal. Again it was Joveljic who fired the shot (63.). Ried only went ahead to the opposite goal with a set piece. Feldhofer then traded four times with the Wolfsbergs to bring in new forces. A double misstep brought the guests into balance. Michael Novak and Stefan Peric disagreed, Luka Lochoshvili intervened too roughly against the beneficiary Grüll. The lack could not take the risk. The WAC threw everything forward again at the goal. Substitute Dario Vizinger missed in the fourth minute of injury time but to Sahin-Radlinger.
