The federal states have made progress to varying degrees in planning the implementation of mass corona tests.

Preparations for mass corona tests are in completely different planning stages in the federal states: while Burgenland and Vorarlberg are already very well organized, there are still many open questions in Vienna, Styria and Carinthia.
This is demonstrated by a provisional balance of the armed forces, which, also to varying degrees, is involved.
Mass tests for the population were only planned shortly before Christmas
It was originally scheduled for 6/5. December every 200,000 teachers and kindergarten teachers and on 7/8 In December 40,000 police officers will be tested. Corona’s mass testing for the population was only planned for the weekend before Christmas (December 19/20). Organization and planning must be done by the armed forces.
On Wednesday, however, several federal states rushed in and announced that they would test first and organize everything themselves in part. The police also do not support the army and are organizing their tests themselves with the help of the Red Cross – details should be available by Friday.
Vorarlberg, Tirol, Carinthia and Salzburg are already testing before
Vorarlberg and Tyrol test the population on December 5 and 6, Salzburg and Carinthia a week later, on December 12 and 13. One of the arguments for moving forward is that those who tested positive will come out of quarantine at Christmas and will be able to celebrate normal Christmas.
Vienna wants to start mass testing on December 2
The city of Vienna only announced on Thursday that it would begin mass crown tests of the population in early December and carry them out between December 2 and 13. The participation of a maximum of 1.2 million people is expected.
The processing will be carried out in cooperation with the armed forces at three main locations: in the Wiener Stadthalle, in the Marxhalle in the Landstrasse district and in the exhibition hall near the Prater, a total of 300 test lines of according to the principle of access without prior appointment. Up to 150,000 people will be tested per day at the three mass testing locations.
Vorarlberg has almost completed planning
A current provisional balance of the armed forces shows that planning in the federal states is very different. Vorarlberg is practically finished with the planning: 80 test stations are planned for 5,000 people each, of which 2,000 to 3,000 are expected for the tests, open from 7 a.m. Construction and dismantling are carried out by the fire services. The operation of the stations is assumed mainly by civil emergency organizations and communities, acceptance is carried out by civil emergency organizations and individual paramedics of the armed forces. The TI supplies the country itself, all the positives of the rapid tests are requested to perform the PCR test in the same test stations as for the rapid tests from 17 hours.
The task of the Armed Forces is to transport the test kits and the protective equipment to the 80 test stations, as well as the return transport of the unused kits to the central warehouse, as well as the collection of the PCR tests in each test day of the 80 test stations and transport to the laboratory.
Tirol and Salzburg are still busy with the latest polls
There are still no specific schedules in Tyrol. These are currently being created. In Salzburg, six test roads with 18 test lanes are currently planned for teacher tests. The test kit requirement for mass testing on 12/13. December is currently clearing up. The test staff requirements are also currently being evaluated. Hardware and software that are still pending for testing are also open. In Styria and Carinthia, the need for test stations and test tracks, as well as locations, are first assessed and planned.
Test roads in Lower Austria largely fixed, Upper Austria sees tests for teachers as a sample
The investigation and definition of test roads in Lower Austria has been largely completed and will be arranged in coordination with the state. Lower Austria plans to carry out a PCR test on all positive antigen tests on the same day. If the online booking works as planned, then there should be an opportunity to test outside the residential area. The hardware and software for testing are still open here.
In Upper Austria, teachers’ tests are considered a test for subsequent mass tests. Currently the available parts of the Upper Austrian military command for the mass testing of teachers and the test stations and test roads are being planned in cooperation and in consultation with the regional office, district authorities and statutory cities . As things stand today, compulsory schools should be used for this. The need for testing in the education sector is currently estimated at around 33,400 people.
Targeted at up to 150 test stations in Burgenland
Federal schools are available as test stations in Burgenland. Civil emergency organizations are preparing a concept for the sample test station. There are a total of 8,000 examiners for the teacher tests, it is estimated that approximately 90 percent will take the tests and approximately 7,100 people will take the tests on December 5 and 6. Ten test stations are required for the tests: in the seven district capitals and three others in Eisenstadt, Neusiedl and Oberwart. Test station locations will be determined at the end of the week.
About 10 men are required per proving ground, including paramedics and other personnel from the armed forces and civilian forces. Voluntary reports already exist to support mass testing, the use of helpers is to be decided next week. The necessary computer equipment for the test stations is provided by the Directorate of Education. The exact procedure for the acceptance test is still being planned.
Between 100,000 and 150,000 people are expected in the subsequent mass tests. Based on this initial assessment, 100 to 150 test stations are required in Burgenland, corresponding to 15 to 25 per district.
