This is how the government wants to advertise in the future

The government is allocating a media budget of 180 million euros to information campaigns. Critics call this “general award”, supporters “professionalization.”

Currently, the Austrian government has great communication needs. Due to the Covid pandemic, there is a lot to explain to the public, in press conferences and broadcasts, and yes, with announcements and commercials too. In the coming months, the population will have to be informed about the Sars-Cov-2 vaccination. That is why the Federal Procurement Agency BBG, as it has just been known, announced two framework agreements in the EU weeks ago: it is looking for an advertising agency for the “joint communication strategy” of the federal government. The goal is “strict joint communication between all ministries.”

These are creative services for a maximum amount of 30 million euros (for all ministries and throughout the legislative period). In a second tender, a media agency is sought to deal with services of up to 180 million euros over the next four years. The deadline for submitting the tender runs until February.
