Italian star singer Andrea Bocelli is reacting to cultural stagnation in his home country and plans a Christmas concert on December 12 entitled “Believe in Christmas”, in which he will sing several songs from his album “Believe” (Decca), which It was released in November. The concert at the Teatro Regio in Parma will be broadcast around the world. However, Bocelli can already be seen this Wednesday night as part of the “Licht ins Dunkel” gala at ORF.
The tenor appears in favor of the fundraising campaign for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic on television. Andreas Gabalier, DJ Ötzi, Ina Regen, Pizzera & Jaus and Aleksey Igudesman also serve the good cause with live performances at ORF Studio 1 (8:15 PM, ORF 2).
In December, however, the Parma concert will follow. The event is led by Italian-Belgian Franco Dragone, who has hosted many performances for the Canadian live entertainment company Cirque du Soleil. With his concert he wanted to give hope and optimism to the people. “They are the best drugs for difficult situations,” said the artist in an interview with the Italian radio station RTL.
The concept behind “Believe” is based on the three words faith, hope and charity. These are the three theological virtues of Christianity that, regardless of any religious beliefs, also form the key to giving life a sense of meaning and fullness, Bocelli said.
Bocelli, 62, who fell ill with the corona virus in the spring and has since recovered, sings on his new album as a duet with mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli and singer Allison Krauss. The album also pays tribute to the master of Italian film music, Ennio Morricone, who died in July and with whom Bocelli had often worked.
