Rapid lost 3: 4 at Ried without head coach Didi Kühbauer. Co-coach Manfred Nastl in his phone call with the coach.
Didi Kühbauer had to watch in front of the television on Sunday when his Rapidler lost the opportunity to lead the table at Ried. A win would have been enough to overtake leader Red Bull Salzburg after his mistake against Sturm. Despite two leaders, Hütteldorfer lost 3: 4 to the Vikings.
Co-coach Manfred Nastl, who replaced his ailing head coach on the bench, made people smile after the loss. He told “Sky” about the upcoming phone call with Kühbauer: “I don’t really want to do it, it will be a longer conversation.” Nastl added: “It’s annoying. All the players are in the locker room and they’re disappointed.”
On Monday, Nastl explained to “Heute” what was really being discussed on the cell phone: “We had a long phone call on the bus. We talked about what he saw in front of the TV, how we felt in the square. Basically everyone. Anyway we had the same opinion about what it was. ” Was the fear justified? “It wasn’t that wild. No, I was more of a joke. We spoke objectively and worked accordingly.”
The next big hit awaits Rapid next Sunday. At the Allianz stadium there is a Vienna derby against Austria in crisis. Then hopefully again with Kühbauer on the sidelines.
