A man took off his mask to have a burek during his break. Then the police punished him: he had to pay € 400.
Even a food delivery man gets hungry from time to time. So is the man whose photo of his snack is circulating in the Balkan media. But the reason was not the lunch break itself, but the fact that the man ate his snack outside during the times of confinement. The incident occurred last week in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana.
The photo now circulating on social media shows the man eating a burek. In order to eat it, of course, he had to remove the protection from his mouth and nose: a thorn in the side of the policemen, who ensure that the Covid measures are observed by the population. Because in Slovenia masks must be worn in public places. The food supplier was immediately sanctioned for the infraction. € 400 was the fine that the man had to pay for the offense.
The bakery wants to be punished
The incident could take a positive turn for the offender. Since then, a Ljubljana bakery selling the popular Balkan snack has offered to pay the fine. After all, the incident would make good publicity on social media for the Burek Olimpija bakery.
The only requirement: the man must be able to prove that he bought the sandwich at “Burek Olimpija”. “We are looking for the famous food supplier who had to pay a fine in Ljubljana last week for eating (…) food. We want to ask him where he got the burek from. If he is our burek, we want to help him and take the punishment for him.” . The bakery posted this on social media.
Free burek for the national team
As reported by the Slovenian media, this bakery is a member of the “Olimpija” football club, as its name suggests. Recently, “Burek Olimpija” guaranteed the players of the Slovenian national team a free Burek for life. Slovenia recently drew against Greece, securing a better place in Group B of the UEFA Nations League.
